The Re-Birth of eBay
"Re-defining commerce by empowering entrepeneurs through technology"
-Devin Wenig, CEO eBay
eBay invented socio-economic commerce on the Internet. So that's not the part of the wheel in the process of being reinvented. This September marks the 20th Anniversary of the marketplace. Putting things into perspective, in that time, trillions of dollars have changed hands globally through the core eBay US national, international websites, and vast portfolio of peripheral assets. In addition, trillions more dollars have flowed downstream to an incalculable vast array of associated added value. Let's call that array a significant part of the backbone of a global small business infrastructure that would simply not be possible without eBay. The actual knock-on gross tangible and perceived value literally takes on cosmic proportions. Because, the dollar you just spent on eBay to buy a product, pays a salary that feeds a family, that pays a mortgage, that fills a car with fuel, and so on, and so on. An eco-system in an ecosystem in an ecosystem.
This extraordinary dynamic carries unprecedented significance for two critical reasons. First, eBay has not even scratched the surface of its potential. Second, eBay's power comes from people. As it should in any great business. Because, good business is never about money, it is about relationships. When a good business is about people, there are some great tools available, such as building trust via communication. That's the part that eBay is re-inventing.
As a buyer or seller your experience on eBay going forward will become more seamless. the process of finding and acquiring the best of the best you are looking for will enter a new phase of intimacy in your relationship with the marketplace. Because your trust is precious, and your time is irreplaceable.
As a seller, you will find even more great reasons to focus your energy on eBay because everyone we know there is hyper-sensitive to your need for velocity, predictability and control. You will see some amazing innovative initiatives begin to take shape in the weeks and months ahead.
***NobleSpirit Invited to eBay 'Day One' Event
Last weekend we were highly honored to be invited to the culmination of PayPal's seperation from eBay. PayPal could not possibly have had a better partner to accompany it through the torrent of the ecommerce landscape the last 10 years.
eBay held a festive extravaganza as it rang the end of first day of public trading on NASDAQ. Called "Day One", it was a memorable and landmark event. As part of the commencement 50 eBay sellers were invited to attend, one from each state. We were proud and humbled to be selected to represent New Hampshire!

***Going forward NobleSpirit, eBay, PESA
As many of our customers already know we at NobleSpirit have invested our hard currency in eBay since 1998. We built a proprietary software company called Meridian to enable us to enjoy a strong competitive advantage, but also to allow subscribers to do a better job of selling on eBay. Our consignment functionality is fully integrated and cutting edge unlike any other. We recently completed construction of our new facility in which we expand and diversify much further. Michael Cortese, the next generation at NobleSpirit, comes to the table with a deep sense of integrity and extraordinary vision.
In 2002, when eBay introduced group functionality we founded an eBay centric trade organization called PESA Professional eBay Sellers Alliance, along with 3 other vibrant mentoring groups. Today that organization boasts some 8,000 members who collectively turnover some $30-40 billion across various marketplaces and websites. In all we've held 14 bi-annual conferences in the US and Australia, with 500-900 attendees and some $1 billion+ GMV in attendance at each. As eBay laser focuses on its endless exhilerating future prospects. We look forward to sharing avenues of collaboration wherever possible.
Distribution of this NobleSpirit Newsletter proliferates deep into our loyal customer base and beyond. Often shared with non-subscribers circulation may sometimes reach 300,000+ viewers. Our core customer base is now 100,000 email opt ins and nearly 150,000 additional opt in subscribers.
Next Friday, we'll return to talking about stamps. However, please don't forget you are setting the price on over 1,000 eBay auctions and fixed price best offer listings from $5 to $500,000.00 plus!
